Avengers 5 Overview: Release Date and Initial Focus
Avengers 5, originally set to be ‘The Kang Dynasty’, is still slated for May 2026. But what will this movie be about? While the entire MCU was initially focused on Kang from Phase Four to the beginning of Phase Five, the focus has now shifted. Whether or not Kang is involved, the threat of the multiverse still looms. Incursions have been heavily discussed in the Multiverse of Madness, but two years later, they seem to have had no impact. The Infinity Saga featured the Infinity Stones, teased from Phase One through Phase Three. So for whom will the Avengers assemble now? For the Incursions, the Multiverse, or a new villain yet to be revealed? The article is going to discuss what Avengers 5 will be about and Avengers 5 plot theories.
The Legacy of the Infinity Stones in the MCU
The Infinity Saga was spectacular. Here, the Infinity Stones held the entire cinematic universe together. The Mind Stone appeared in the first three movies and then on Vision’s forehead. The Space Stone, or the Tesseract, appeared in six films. The Reality Stone appeared in three movies. The Power Stone appeared in one movie. The Time Stone appeared in one movie, and the Soul Stone finally appeared in the Infinity War. These Infinity Stones were the main focus throughout the Infinity Saga where initially Thanos and then the Avengers had to find them. In Infinity War and Endgame, it had already been established in the MCU that the Infinity Stones were the main focus, and Thanos had also been teased much earlier.
Potential Conflicts and Alliances in Avengers 5
But speaking of the Multiverse, where fans knew Kang was a big threat before Jonathan Majors’ arrest, now no one clearly knows which path Avengers 5 will take. It is clear about Avengers 6 that it will be about ‘Secret Wars’, but what Avengers 5 will be about is still unclear. There are clear indications that Avengers 5 should involve events whose resolution will occur in Avengers 6, but what those events will be is not yet known. Avengers versus Fox characters became a possibility now. We saw many realities in ‘Endgame’ with several branches created and in the ‘Loki’ series, we saw people from different realities. In ‘No Way Home’, MCU’s Spider-Man encountered people from three realities. In ‘Multiverse of Madness’, we were shown different universes, and we also saw Earth 838, and recently in ‘The Marvels’, we saw the X-Men universe, which are friends of Binary.
In all these realities, the characters from Earth 838 and shown in ‘The Marvels’ have made a significant impact. The Illuminati of Earth 838, a group of powerful heroes dealing with 838’s threats, were killed by the Scarlet Witch. Many people are there for revenge, like Mr. Fantastic’s family, the Inhumans, all the X-Men, and close associates of Captain Carter. Also, Christine from this universe knows from which universe Doctor Strange and Wanda came from. So, there are big chances that the superheroes of 838 will seek revenge against the superheroes of 616. During the time of the release of ‘Multiverse of Madness’, there were huge rumors about ‘Superior Iron Man’ being in the movie, but if that also clashes ahead, we are going to witness some awesome fights. Monica Rambeau is in the X-Men universe, where she is under Beast’s supervision at the X-Mansion. How this thing will expand further is unknown, but from here, a very clear Avengers vs X-Men vibe is coming, which could directly be the plot of Avengers 5.
The Infinity Stones were destroyed. We know from Infinity War that there was nothing at the beginning of the universe until the Big Bang occurred, which brought six elemental crystals into the universe. These Infinity Stones control the existential aspect, which can change anything in the universe together, except bringing back the dead. So now, when the existential aspect elements are not in the 616 universe, won’t existence of this universe be in danger, and isn’t this threatening the universe? Dealing with this issue, Doctor Strange is not on Earth, and another powerful witch has collapsed a mountain on herself, so now the Avengers will have to deal with this problem.
Anchor Concept: A New Multiverse Rule
The incursion plus multiverse concept was recently given insider info by Daniel RPK about the MCU, where he mentioned that a new concept of the multiverse is being set, which is the Anchor, where each universe will have an anchor being, and if that being dies, that universe will begin to end. This process will take time; it won’t happen immediately. This thing also happened in the comics’ Secret War storyline, where Beyonder placed a Molecule Man in every universe of the multiverse, who began to destroy all realities simultaneously. But Doctor Doom and Earth 616’s Molecule Man went to kill these Molecule Men first, and due to the death of the Molecule Men, the multiverse began to shrink, causing realities to collide, and this was called incursion.
Now, introducing the concept of the Anchor in the MCU and saying that the process of destruction will not start immediately upon the death of the Anchor suggests that the Anchor in the MCU has died, and destruction has begun. Now the point is, who is or was this Anchor? The Anchor cannot be human because what if an Anchor human dies of old age or was never born? In that case, what will happen to the universe? Now, if this concept is only connected to the Deadpool movie, it doesn’t need to be taken too seriously, but if it is indeed a new rule of the multiverse, then it very much sounds like the canon event of the Sony’s Spider-Verse, where according to Miguel, if the canon event doesn’t occur, the universe will start to be destroyed. Although this wasn’t the case. So either TVA or some multiverse being will present this point, and the Avengers will actively fight against this concept.
In the end, characters in the Multiverse Saga haven’t developed enough for us to get a solid Avengers 5 movie, but an Avengers movie is coming, and it remains to be seen what Marvel can offer us before that.
