So far, whenever we’ve seen Logan, he has saved someone with his sacrifices each time. But what has Logan done in the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine movie to receive so much hate? Recently, the trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine dropped, and the internet couldn’t contain its excitement seeing Logan in classic yellow costume. However, fans immediately started investigating how anyone could possibly hate Logan. Cassandra Nova is the villain in the new movie, and we also see Doctor Strange portal. There are some references of Old Man Logan, and it seems like Logan has done something in this universe that he hadn’t done in his previous X-Men universe, that is why he’s in this situation.
In the entire MCU, the F-word has not been used as much as it was used alone in the trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine. Before its release, Deadpool and Wolverine had already started breaking records. Hugh Jackman has been playing this role for 24 years, and after first appearing together in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Deadpool and Logan are back together. The costumes are accurate and hopefully, the story is too.
Logan’s Love for Jean Grey
First, let’s discuss what Logan did. It’s surprising that Logan is responsible for the destruction of his world. We have several theories about what Logan might have done. The first theory is that Logan didn’t do what he did in X-Men: The Last Stand. In X-Men: The Last Stand, Jean Grey became Dark Phoenix and started disintegrating everyone in her path. But there’s one mutant who can’t be disintegrated, and that’s Logan. With his awesome healing factor, he killed Jean Grey —the X-Man he loves. Logan has always regretted this, even in the 2013 movie The Wolverine, where we can see Jean repeatedly appearing in his dreams because he regrets killing her. So, the theory is that in Deadpool and Wolverine, Logan simply didn’t kill Jean Grey, and the entire world suffered as Dark Phoenix wreaked havoc, destroying his world.
Old Man Logan Theory
The second is that this is the Old Man Logan theory from Earth 807128. This Logan is responsible for killing all the X-Men, which ultimately led to a reign of villains on Earth, and the entire world suffered the consequences. We get another hint of the Old Man Logan universe in the trailer when we see Giant Ant Man’s body in costume. We saw a similar scene in the comics where Hawkeye and Logan were going through Pym Falls. That’s why Logan laughs when Deadpool shows his gun. Obviously, Wade has adamantium bullets, and Logan wants those bullets.
Sentinels Rule
Another theory is that in the trailer where Logan is coming out from between many stones, those are gravestones of X-Men members. We saw this scene in the Days of Future Past comic book, in The Uncanny X-Men Issue 141, when Kitty Pryde was going to the Mutant Internment Center. If this is the world of Days of Future Past, then it means the Sentinels rule here, and the mutants are in captivity.
Now let’s talk about where the portal is going this time. The portal that has been created, where Deadpool and Logan are going, can only travel at the same time within the same universe because the sorcerers’ portal travels in the same universe, not time travel or dimensional travel. Only America Chavez can do that. So this portal will just take Deadpool and Logan somewhere else in the Void. Plus, if you look closely at the portal scene, you can see Cassandra Nova, who is calmly watching them go into the portal where Alioth is also behind. So, a mastermind villain won’t just do this, and it could also be that Cassandra herself is sending Deadpool and Logan through the portal. We saw that she was controlling Logan in the trailer. So, Deadpool and Logan are not going to leave the Void so easily, and there’s also a sorcerer in the Void who is creating this portal.
Now let’s talk about how dangerous Cassandra Nova is. This villain is very dangerous. Charles Xavier’s twin sister who tried to kill him in their mother’s womb, but Charles killed her, yet she did not die. This villain can craft her own body. She used Sentinels in New X-Men Issue 11 to annihilate the mutants of Genosha. She created Sentinels, a microscopic machine capable of turning its host against mutants. She used this to gain control over Jean. But here in this trailer, she is with the mutants. This also happens in Mutants Volume Two, where Cassandra Nova joins the Mutants to free an ancient civilization called Threshold. I think that in Deadpool and Logan, Cassandra is doing something similar, and somewhere we are being misled to think that the movie’s primary villain is her. Marvel has done this dozens of times, and chances are it’s happening here too.
