Which X-Men are in Avengers: Doomsday?
Marvel’s cast list includes seven X-Men actors: Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) and Channing Tatum (Gambit). Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine isn’t on that list. The trailers show Xavier, Magneto and Cyclops, and Doctor Doom’s army of Sentinels.

What do the Doomsday trailers show of the X-Men?
The third teaser, shown before Avatar: Fire and Ash and released online in early January, was an X-Men teaser. It features a ruined X-Mansion, Xavier and Magneto playing chess, and Cyclops letting off a huge optic blast. Large legs that look like Sentinels walk past in the background. Cyclops wears the blue and yellow comic costume, and the clip ends with text saying the X-Men will return in Doomsday.
Later footage widens the picture. Variety’s description of the D23 trailer has Doom facing Reed Richards, the X-Men and the Avengers, with an army of Sentinels behind him. The July Hall H trailer reportedly showed the X-Men fighting the new Avengers team.
Is Wolverine in Avengers: Doomsday?
Not according to Marvel’s cast list. Jackman played him in Deadpool & Wolverine, and the third teaser notably left him out. A report says Jackman and Ryan Reynolds were lined up for D23, but we can’t tell you if that means anything for the film. Treat Wolverine as unconfirmed.
What are the Sentinels in the comics?
The Sentinels are giant mutant-hunting robots created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, first seen in X-Men #14 (1965). Cyclops’s blue-and-yellow suit is the classic comic look. We don’t know yet how much of the comic lore the film borrows.
What’s rumored about the X-Men in Doomsday?
Rumored: an unnamed set of rumors says Doom takes control of the Sentinels and sets them on the mutants, and that the film includes an X-Men vs Avengers fight. Nothing official backs either one.
Speculation: Marvel showing Sentinels in the footage makes a Doom-and-Sentinels plot plausible, but it doesn’t prove it.
